What We Believe
Our Mission Statement and Covenant
Chardon Baptist Church Mission Statement
Our Mission is to EXALT the Lord Jesus Christ as we build a God-honoring FELLOWSHIP which PROCLAIMS God’s Word, EVANGELIZES the lost, EQUIPS God’s people for works of service, and ENCOURAGES one-another. We, thereby, fulfill the Great Commission. We strive for scriptural integrity and Doctrinal purity.
Our Commitments
We will earnestly pray for each other and for the advancement of God’s kingdom.
We will labor to be a loving community.
We will devote ourselves to systematic, expository Bible study, teaching, and preaching.
We will strengthen families in their walk of faith, equipping fathers and mothers for effective ministry in the home.
We will not conform to this world; we will live scripturally, as the redeemed community of God in this world.
We will promote and participate in God-exalting worship.
We will develop godly leaders.
We will share the gospel message in our community and around the world.
We will strive to equip believers in Christ for effective ministry.
We will live in the life-changing, empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
All that we do, will be with excellence for the glory of God and purity of the body of Christ.
Chardon Baptist Church Covenant
Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We commit, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinance, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also promise to live godly lives; to biblically educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our conduct; to make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification and to abstain from any behavior that would cause a fellow believer to stumble or would hinder the testimony of the gospel; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the work of our Savior.
We further commit to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation.
We moreover promise that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. If such a church is not available, we will, with God’s help, endeavor to start one.
